Kent & Curwen - Spring/Summer Collection '08
Mick Jagger is the front man of Britain’s most infamous Rock and Roll band the Rolling Stones and his unique style has heavily influenced the design of our latest range.
The group first joined the scene in 1963 and immediately inspired acres of column space with their non conformist attitudes to music and fashion. As the era of peace and love collided with the seventies the Stones positioned themselves at the forefront of celebrity media thus creating a unique form of pop which has become a profitable commodity. As Jagger’s confidence grew he began to gain cult status learning to effortlessly straddle the line between rebel and society darling.
In 2008 Kent and Curwen’s Spring & Summer Satisfaction collections delve into the early Jagger mindset. As a young contemporary artist his success and style made him the doyen of both the worlds of fashion and media which is reflected throughout the styling of our new collections.
With a lifestyle afforded only to the rich and famous Mick has become the classic Englishman abroad. Whether he is crisscrossing the world on his private jet, enjoying time on the French Riviera or cruising along the Italian coastline in his Rolls Royce he has always been surrounded by the worlds most exotic and beautiful women. All of these attributes have combined to provide the inspiration behind the classic slim silhouettes of our latest collection.
Mick is a “dandy”, combining classic tailoring with simple accessories such as a Panama or neckerchief. His narrow sophisticated trousers would often be offset with a contemporary cardigan or Liberty print shirt. This look has become indicative to Jagger and depicts an era when the Stones grabbed every headline whether they were courting stunning women, touring or hell raising.
Style matters, as we are sure Mick would agree! So Kent and Curwen have created a collection which like the brand has its roots in the past but its eyes firmly fixed on the future.
